Through the Photographer's lens
I have never been confident in my writing skills. In fact, I always thought the only thing I could write somewhat competently was a short text message or a reply on Messenger. Even then, my responses often boiled down to something as succinct and expressive as “OK.”
This year, however, I was given the opportunity to write an article about my trip to Barolo and Piedmont for the autumn-winter issue of No.3 Magazine. The theme was craftsmanship. I decided to tell the story of the photographs I captured in Italy using a film camera. The physical and mechanical aspects of shooting with such a camera, along with the entire process of developing and printing the images, embody the spirit of craftsmanship.
Unfortunately, the story of my journey and the photos I took wasn’t as sweet and golden as a glass of Moscato d’Asti. However, like a dessert wine that ends a meal on a high note, it had a positive and satisfying conclusion.
I’m immensely grateful to my colleagues who played a huge role in bringing this project to life. @issariya.maker, a phenomenal editor, not only suggested I write the article but also helped me refine it to its best form. And @sarah_pither, whose creative design work perfectly complemented and visualised the piece in the magazine.
I wholeheartedly invite you to read this article, as well as others by my colleagues, who have an even greater command of the written word and explore fascinating aspects of the wine world in their stories.
